Consultation Outcome: New Dance Schools and Instructors Music Licence

Earlier this year, OneMusic invited stakeholders from across the New Zealand dance industry to participate in a consultation on proposed changes to music licensing for the dance sector in Aotearoa New Zealand. We’re grateful to everyone who took the time to share their perspectives - your feedback has been invaluable in shaping the final outcome.


What We Heard

Over an eight-week consultation period, we received nineteen written responses from individual Dance Schools and Instructors, as well as a group submission from Dance Aotearoa New Zealand (DANZ). The feedback covered a wide range of views and suggestions, all of which were carefully considered.

What’s Changing

After reviewing all submissions, OneMusic will implement a revised Dance Schools and Instructors Music Licence effective from 1 February 2026. Here’s a summary of the key changes:
